This is a tough hike and you need to be very fit. It is 4 days and 3 nights. At the base camp at the start there are ablutions with showers and a donkey to heat the water. There is no electricity. The other overnight camps DO NOT have ablutions or showers. The trail is not marked and it is best to hire a guide. The fee above includes a guide fee.
ALTERNATIVELY: Instead of a back-packing hike, you can stay at the base camp and hike from there on a daily basis. Bill suggests the following:Arrive Friday 6 August, pitch tents – there are ablutions, a kitchen and hot water etc.
Saturday 7 – do a circular hike of approx 15km.Sunday 8 – do a circular hike of approx 17 kmsMonday 9 – do short hike or pack upIn this case the cost will be R90 less, i.e. R510 for members and R580 for non-members.Please let Bill know ASAP if you are interested and which option you prefer:082 576 8198 or zachiusm@tdw.co.za
