Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the weekend hike that was planned for 15 – 17 March. This was going to be the Hel’s River, Middelburg, backpacking hike. We have been told by the booking agents that this is more of an endurance adventure than a hike. A group did it a couple of weekends ago and it took them 10 hours to go 5 km. It included about 10 river crossings as well as very steep and dangerous chain ladders.
The hike planned for 21 – 24 March (long weekend) is still going ahead so please contact Bill as soon as possible if you are interested:
Cannibal/St Fort Trail, Clarens
R165 pppn and an additional R60 pp to transport your stuff to the overnight accommodation. For non-members there will be an additional R50 levied for the weekend.
Despite its name (Cannibal) this hiking trail, just outside Clarens, is an easy hike that’s ideal for the whole family. It comes highly recommended and is not to be missed.
The first night’s accommodation is a cottage (Electricity, toilets and showers)
The hike on day 1 is 9 km
The second night’s accommodation is Melkstal (Electricity, toilets and showers)
The hike on day 2 is 7.5 km
The third night’s accommodation is in a cave. There are toilets and showers but no electricity in the cave.
The hike on day 3 is 2.5 km
It can be done as a 2 day or 3 day hike whichever you prefer
