Again this month, unfortunately, we have had to change where we will be hiking because the FROGS trail has been closed indefinitely.
Date: Sunday 24 February 2019
Venue: Hadeda Camp, Hennops Hiking & Mtb Trails (R511)
Cost: R80 for members, R100 for non-members and R40/R50 for school children (pay in cash on the day)
Hennops is a lovely trail and quite close to both Joburg and Pretoria. The GPS co-ordinates are: S 25°47’53.173″ E 27°59’23.574″. All the trails start from the Hadeda Camp.
At the beginning and end of the trail it meanders along the Hennops River before veering away into the mountains. Two unique features are the river crossings – a suspension bridge and a cable car. There are also interesting historical sites including an old field hospital used in the Anglo Boer War. There is also a variety of game to be seen along the trail. For more information check out their website: www.hennops.co.za
There are three hiking trails: Dassie (2,5 km), Zebra (5 km) and Krokodilberg (10 km)
There will be a braai after the hike and, as usual, the Club will supply the charcoal.
Please let Mark know by Thursday 21 February if you wish to attend.
